Yuri Kajiyama is a ceramic artist working in Tokyo. She draws inspiration from the nature around her, creating pieces that incorporate familiar elements like birds, flowers, and nuts. Her work features soft, gentle colors that bring a delightful atmosphere to any dining table.
The Forest Collection
This time, we're introducing her "Forest Collection." The pieces with a glossy blue glaze are called "Night Forest." This series was inspired by a walk Kajiyama took through a dense fir tree forest during a visit to Scandinavia. While fir forests might seem imposing at first glance, she found the experience surprisingly comfortable and inviting. Just hearing her describe it is exciting!
Each fir tree on the pieces is meticulously carved. These vessels, crafted while recalling the Nordic forests, impart a sense of nature's beauty and power to us as well.
Enchanting Glazes and Vision
Beyond the charming motifs, Kajiyama's beautiful glaze colors are simply captivating. This glossy blue piece in particular evokes the quiet stillness of a night forest, revealing its mystical side. The balance between the trees and the sky in the mugs is especially stunning, creating a world where you can almost feel falling snow or crisp, fresh air. Enjoy your favorite beverages while letting your imagination wander with these pieces.

It's also worth noting that handmade pieces by artists may have minor indentations, distortions, or crazing from the manufacturing process. These are not considered damage.
